Birdwing Butterflies Available to International Customers

Birdwing butterflies at Insect Designs are now available to our international customers. They come with a CITES re-export permit from Australia. Please see the notes at the top of the birdwing page at our store for further instructions.

Fresh Birdwing Butterflies now Available

Insect Designs has just received a fresh shipment of birdwing butterflies with many lovely species now available. Whilst we are waiting for our CITES re-export to arrive, we are currently only able to ship these to our Australian customers. However, if you are out of Australia you are able to keep your order aside for you until our permit arrives about the middle of March. Unfortunately for our US customers, we are unable to ship birdwing specimens there due to the expensive extra paperwork the US government requires over and above the standard CITES permit.

Birdwing Butterflies now Available to our International Customers

We are pleased to announce today that our export permit has arrived and birdwing butterflies are now available to our international customers. Some of you have been waiting several months for these specimens to become available to you. All specimens are sent with an appropriate re-export permit from Australia. There is no additional cost for this.

Unfortunately, we regret to say that due to the extra paperwork required by US Wildlife and Fisheries we are not able to ship birdwing butterflies to the USA.

Fresh Birdwing Specimens

Insect Designs has finally received the long awaited parcel of birdwing butterflies from Indonesia. You will find all of the items now listed on the web site.

The specimens are immediately available to all of our Australian customers. International customers may also purchase them, but orders will not be shipped until our new re-export permit arrives. We expect this in a few weeks. 

Unfortunately we are not able to ship birdwing specimens to our customers in the United States. The extra documentation now required by US Fish and Wildlife on top of the normal CITES permit makes it too costly for us to ship CITES species there. We are sorry about this.

Birdwing Butterflies 20% Off Remaining Stock

Yes, all remaining stock of birdwing butterflies at Insect Designs is now 20% off! Due to a change in the way the Australian Government issues permits for importing and re-exporting birdwing butterflies, all remaining stock needs to be sold before our current permits expire on 15 October. Be quick as only a small number of specimens are left.
